Working preview · November 2026
Your number.
Your choice to connect.
Nex Phone is a standalone Nexzation Network LLC app for one-to-one calls with mutually accepted Nex contacts. It is a working preview, not a telephone carrier service.
Who can call you
Each person signs in with their own verified Nex account. A contact invitation is targeted to one Nex number, expires after 24 hours, and can be accepted once. Sharing its link does not let a different account accept. Both people must agree before calls are available. There is no public contact directory or automatic address-book upload.
Managed and legacy child accounts are not enabled for this standalone preview. Family calling in CLANN and child accounts in Junior remain separate. A parent permission and screen-time connection is required before children can use public Nex Phone.
Camera and microphone
The app requests access only when you choose to call, accept, or join an accepted call. Audio calls request only your microphone. Video calls request your microphone and camera; you can mute or turn the camera off. The app stops its tracks when you end the call, sign out, lose app access, or hide or leave the page.
Keep Phone open and visible to receive calls. This preview does not promise background, locked-screen or push-notification calling. Network and device behavior can interrupt calls. Use your regular phone for emergency calls; Nex numbers cannot dial phone numbers or emergency services.
How calls travel
Media uses the network’s existing self-hosted LiveKit service at rtc.clann.cloud in separate Phone rooms. Transport is encrypted. This preview does not provide end-to-end encryption, recording, transcription, messaging, SIP or SMS. We do not store call audio or video.
Room access is limited to the two verified, accepted accounts and their connected sign-in sessions. Ending, blocking or losing permission triggers room removal. A server check runs about every five seconds and expires abandoned calls after about 30 seconds. A self-hosted media token cannot be instantly invalidated; temporary failures can delay room cleanup. Recreated stale rooms are removed by those checks.
Your saved records
We retain your Nex identity, contact relationships, private contact labels, invitations, preferences and up to 200 call-history entries. Contact labels, invitation secrets and call-history details are encrypted at rest with an application key. Account numbers, relationship identifiers, availability and temporary call metadata remain readable by the service so it can authorize calls. Session secrets are encrypted separately. This is not end-to-end encrypted storage.
Availability is short lived. Ended call coordination records are purged after a day; old expired invitation records after seven days. Contact and history records remain until you remove them. Operational recovery backups can retain older records until backup rotation; deleting active data does not immediately erase recovery copies.
Your controls
Do Not Disturb stops new incoming calls. Blocking ends your connection and call; unblocking does not restore it automatically. A new mutual invitation is required. Removing a contact also closes that connection. You can export your own contacts and history, clear your history, or delete your active Phone data from Settings. Other people keep their own contact labels and call history, but lose permission to call you until a new invitation is accepted.
Signing out ends the call on that device and revokes that app sign-in. Deleting Phone data does not delete your Nex number or data in other Nex apps. Account, access and deletion help is available through your Nex account.
Preview limits
Up to 100 contacts, 10 pending invitations and one current call per account. Calls are limited to one hour and subject to service capacity. Carrier service, mobile background behavior and public child calling require separate work and are not advertised as available.
